Opening of a new Smart Station used by FESTIVAL in Japan

Maya Station

Maya Station opened on the 26th of March 2016 is a railway station on the JR Kobe Line in Nada-ku, Kobe, Japan, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR WEST) .This station was constructed under the smart station concept by JR WEST. This station has adopted eco-systems, for example solar power generation systems. It is possible to see the environmental information provided by JR WEST by using digital signage.

West Japan Marketing Communications Inc. (jcomm) have also started JR WEST smart station cooperating experiments. We put a lot of sensors in the digital signage box.

– Variation of sensor: Pollen, PM2.5, Vibration, Acceleration,Noise,Temperature, Humidity , Illuminance

Digital Signage and Sensors

Gathering information to use for the sensors update for the JOSE’s testbed. We will check whether the information collected at Maya Station can be accurately uploaded to the JOSE’s testbed. If this experiment is successful, we will consider the use cases to use this sensing information.

At this stage the experimental process of Maya Station is going as planned. Recently, we decided to experiment with a second smart station at Kyoto’s Kameoka Station. We are also planning to experiment with the links the sensor information of Maya Station and Kameoka Station.
